Wes Chandler to Lead EKU Play-by-Play Responsibilities

RICHMOND, KY – 14-year EKU broadcasting veteran, Wes Chandler will now take on the lead role for play-by-play responsibilities starting this fall for the EKU Sports Network.

Chandler will be the lead voice for all EKU football and men's basketball broadcasts while still providing coverage of other Olympic sports throughout the year as he has done in the past.

He succeeds EKU Hall of Famer, Greg Stotelmyer who retired after a legendary 47-year career on the call for EKU Athletics as "The Voice of the Colonels".

"It truly is an honor to take on this role with Eastern Kentucky University," said Chandler. "Being entrusted with this opportunity is both humbling and incredibly meaningful. I want to thank President McFaddin, Kyle Moats, and Terry Johnson for their confidence in me and for believing in what I can bring to this role. I am honored to carry the microphone forward, celebrate the outstanding student-athletes, coaches, and fans who make EKU special, and help tell the next chapter of this program's story."

Chandler has been a member of the EKU Sports Network broadcast team for 14 years, providing play-by-play and color commentary for numerous Colonel sporting events. His versatility, preparation and enthusiasm have made him a valued part of the department's multimedia coverage.

"Wes has earned this opportunity through his outstanding work, professionalism and commitment to EKU Athletics," said Kyle Moats, EKU Vice President and Director of Athletics. "He has already become a familiar and trusted voice for our fans, and we're excited for him to lead our broadcasts into a new era while continuing the tradition of excellence established by Greg Stotelmyer."

With Chandler taking on these new responsibilities, EKU Athletics will be adding new talent with details to be announced at a later date.
