Biography

The Book on Long – An accurate kicker who has performed well in the clutch … has a great attitude and work habits … will compete with Logan O’Connor for the starting role in kicking and punting. 

At EKU – 2007: Second team all-conference pick … OVC Specialist of the Week for Oct. 7 … split field goal and kick-off duties with Logan O’Connor … made 13-of-14 (92.8 percent) field goal attempts with a long of 34 yards twice … converted all four field goal attempts at Eastern Illinois on Oct. 6 … his lone miss was a 33-yard attempt at Murray State on Oct. 27 … did not have a field goal blocked … finished second on the team with 83 points. 2006: Handled the field goal and kick-off duties as a sophomore … hit the game-winning field goal at UT Martin on Nov. 11 with :01 remaining … the 39-yard field goal against the Skyhawks was a career best … did not have a field goal blocked … made five of his final seven field goal attempts … notched two touchbacks on kick-offs. 2005: Was the team’s field goal kicker as a freshman … also handled kick-off duties … made a field goal in seven of the 11 games … his longest field goal was 36 yards against UT Martin on Nov. 12 … did not have a field goal attempt blocked … registered three touchbacks on kick-offs. 

High School – Made 49-of-52 PATs and 8-of-9 FGs, which includes kicks of 55, 51 and 45 yards, as a senior … attempted a season-long 64-yard field goal, which fell just shy of the uprights … booted 51 of 65 kick-offs for a touchback, including 27 straight without a return … coached by former EKU great Mike Whitaker. 

Personal – Son of Edwin and Susan Long … born on Aug. 19, 1986 … has a twin sister, Hailee, who attends Colorado State and an older brother, Justin, who graduated from EKU.
