Biography

2010 (Junior): Tied for the team lead with five wins and one complete game on the season …started 11 games and pitched 57.1 innings, making him ninth in the OVC in innings pitched per game (4.78) … struck out 39 batters, 24 of whom were looking, good enough for fifth best in the OVC …finished fifth in the OVC in home runs allowed per game (0.73) as he surrendered only six homers all year … delivered his best performance of the season against UT Martin as he grinded his way through a complete game win, allowing just three runs on 11 hits while striking out a season-high nine (April 25) … almost tossed another complete game when he went 6.2 innings against SIU Edwardsville, surrendering zero earned runs on six hits while striking out three in the winning effort (May 21).

2009 (Sophomore):
Named a “Player to Watch” in the OVC by Collegiate Baseball magazine heading into the 2010 season … became only the sixth pitcher in EKU history to throw a no-hitter against Chicago State (May 2) … was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball magazine and OVC Pitcher of the Week following the no-hitter … was also named to that week’s College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports National All-Star Lineup … led EKU in wins (seven), games started (12), complete games (four), innings pitched (76.1) and was second in strikeouts (51) to solidify his status as the team’s ace … also delivered one of the gutsiest performances of the year for the Colonels when he went all seven innings in a must-win game against Eastern Illinois, surrendering just four runs on eight hits and striking out six as EKU won, 5-4 (May 15).

2008 (Freshman):
In his first outing as a Colonel, struck out the side to close out the ninth inning in a 13-1 win over Bradley (March 1) … did not allow a hit or a run in his first four outings last season … recorded 14 strikeouts in 14 innings of work … was one of only three pitchers on staff not to allow a home run … his best performance came against Kentucky State when he went three innings and allowed just one run while striking out four batters … recorded his first career save against Miami (Ohio) University (April 29).

High School Accomplishments: A standout left-handed pitcher for New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill. …  compiled a perfect 20-0 record during his career there … went 2-0 his sophomore year with a 2.40 ERA and 23 strikeouts … his junior, he year posted an 8-0 record with a 2.90 ERA and 49 strikeouts … capped his high school career with a 9-0 senior season in which he posted a 1.62 ERA … in 72 innings of work that year he struck out 89 and walked only 16 … was named second team all-state his senior year … invited to a Perfect Game Showcase in North Carolina in 2007 … posted a 1.70 ERA and was the leading junior pitcher for his junior-select team in the Lakeside Athletic Association …posted a 0.53 ERA in the summer of 2006 for the Lakeside Cardinals … high school coach was Mike Napoleon.
