Biography

2011 (Junior): Entering May, had started only six games at his natural position of second base and was carrying a dismal .229 batting average, but exploded in the last month of the season, batting .327 with a team-best 11 RBI over the Colonels’ last 14 games to win back the starting job … ended the season with a .286 batting average, a home run, two doubles, two triples, 12 runs scored and 14 RBI … strung together a 10-game hitting streak from May 1 – May 20 … batted .500 (6-for-12) in a crucial, late-season series at Jacksonville State … went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two triples in the Colonels’ home finale win over Dayton on May 17 … had no career triples entering that game … carried his hot late-season hitting into the summer as he was named a first-team All-Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League shortstop while playing for the Lima Locos … batted .299 over the summer with six doubles, two triples, three home runs and a team-leading 29 RBI … provided a key RBI in the championship game as the Locos defeated the Southern Ohio Copperheads, 2-1, to secure their third GLSCL championship and first since 2004.  

2010 (Sophomore): Started 28 games on the season, mostly at second base … saw spot action at third base as well …collected three doubles, one triple, 18 runs scored and 12 RBI on the season … went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a key RBI at Western Carolina (Feb. 27) … helped EKU complete an improbable come-from-behind win in that game when, with the Colonels trailing 9-8 with two outs in the top of the ninth, he took a full-count pitch and laced it into center field to score Matt Phipps and tie the game … batted 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in a key win over OVC foe Austin Peay (April 10) … went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in the Colonels’ loss to Tennessee Tech in the OVC Tournament (May 27).

2009 (Freshman): Appeared in 29 games at both second base and third base … batted .258 in his rookie season with 24 runs scored, 18 RBI and three home runs … went 4-for-6 with four RBI and four runs scored against Kentucky State (April 1) … batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored against conference opponent UT Martin (April 4) … blasted a two-run home run against eventual conference champions Tennessee Tech (April 10) … batted 1-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base against in-state rival Western Kentucky (April 22).

High School Accomplishments: A first team all-area shortstop his junior and senior seasons ... named honorable mention all-area as a sophomore ... hit four crucial home runs in the state playoffs to propel his team to a third place finish in 2008 ... as a junior and senior, he finished first or second on his team in most offensive statistical categories ... compiled a .398 batting average during his junior and senior seasons combined, including 67 runs scored, 48 RBI, eight home runs, a .572 slugging percentage and a .525 on-base percentage ... given the team’s Offensive MVP award as a sophomore, the Coach’s Award as a junior and the MVP Teammate Award as a senior.

Personal: Born May 29, 1990 ... son of David and Allison Dunlop ... majoring in sports management.
