Biography

2009 (SOPHOMORE): Named a third team All-American by Ping!Baseball.com heading into the 2010 season … named a second team All-American by CollegeBaseballInsider.com and an honorable mention All-Ping! performer by Ping!Baseball.com at the conclusion of last season … voted first team All-OVC by league coaches and SIDs … was one of only two sophomores on the first team … led the nation in run production at 1.67 RBI per game …won the OVC batting title with a .441 average … batted an amazing .529 with runners in scoring position … second in the OVC in triples (6), total bases (136) and slugging percentage (.800) … blasted a team-best 12 home runs and displayed a propensity for delivering in the clutch as two of his home runs were walk-off jobs and one of them came at home against in-state rival Western Kentucky (3/18) … displayed excellent speed as he swiped 15 bases and legged out six triples … picked up his fifth triple of the season against Kentucky State and, in doing so, became the all-time career triples leader at EKU with 14 (4/1) … was named the OVC Player of the Week after he drove in nine runs to lead the Colonels to two thrilling come-from-behind victories over second-place Southeast Missouri (5/11) … recorded an EKU record 11 RBI in one game against Kentucky State (4/1) … batted a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI in a conference game against Murray State (4/18) … went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs scored and a home run in another important conference win against Southeast Missouri (5/8).

2008 (FRESHMAN):
Named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball … earned OVC All-Freshman Team honors … batted .304 on the season … led the team with a .511 slugging percentage … led the team, conference and was second in the nation with eight triples…His eight triples were also a school record … smacked four home runs … third on the team in RBI and runs scored, recording 37 of each …swiped 11 bases on the season … set an EKU record by hitting a home run in three consecutive games … he ripped a two-run homer against Murray State on April 20, a grand slam against Berea College on April 22, and a three-run blast against Kentucky State on April 23 … recorded 11 RBI in a two-day span … went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and six RBI against Berea College on April 22 … the very next day he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBI against Kentucky State.

HIGH SCHOOL: An athletic infielder from Lafayette High School in Lexington … a teammate of current EKU pitcher Chris Hord at Lafayette during the spring of 2006 …hit .469 with 33 runs scored, 14 doubles and six home runs during his senior year … also went 1-1 pitching with 25 strikeouts in 19 innings … was named first team all-city and second team all-state his senior year … during his junior season, he hit for a .430 batting average with three home runs, 16 doubles and three triples … after the season, was named second team all-city … this past summer he played on the Kentucky Baseball Club.

PERSONAL: Born August 17, 1988 … son of Larry and Dale Langfels … majoring in middle grade teaching.
