Biography

AS A SENIOR IN 2013
Started four games … limited to 18 and one-third innings … struck out 15 batters … allowed 19 hits … posted a 1-2 record and a 6.38 ERA … tied for first on team with two pick-offs … suffered season-ending elbow injury against Southeast Missouri State (March 15) …  selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 31st round of the 2012 MLB draft … Chi Alpha Sigma (national student-athlete honor society) inductee … earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll … 2012-13 Colonel Scholar.

AS A JUNIOR IN 2012
Served as the closer as the Colonels won a share of the regular season Ohio Valley Conference Championship … led the team and ranked fifth in the conference with eight saves … had a 1-1 record and a 3.40 ERA in 27 appearances … struck out 29 batters in 42.1 innings of work … walked 32 … did not allow an earned run in 21 appearances … 12 of his 16 earned runs came in four appearances … made 11 straight appearances late in the season without allowing a run (14 innings) … excelled in the Northwoods League for the second straight summer … chosen second team Summer-College League All-America by PerfectGame.org … led the league with 17 saves … allowed six earned runs and struck out 47 batters in 30 and two-thirds innings of work … had a 2-1 record with a 1.76 ERA … chosen as a Northwoods League top prospect by PerfectGame.org and Baseball America … earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll … 2011-12 Colonel Scholar.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2011
Struggled as a starter early in the season as he was coming off hip surgery over the summer … improved greatly as a reliever in the latter half of the season as his velocity increased … picked up his first win of the season against Western Kentucky on May 4 as he retired the Hilltoppers in order in the top of the 11th … finished the season 1-9 with a 9.07 ERA … bounced back in a big way over the summer while playing for the Alexandria Beetles of the Northwoods League … served as the closer for the Beetles and, with his fastball hovering around the mid-90s, went 4-2 with 12 saves, a 1.45 ERA and 70 strikeouts in only 49.2 innings of work … his dominant bullpen performances led the Beetles to their best regular season record in team history … following the summer, he was named a first team Summer Collegiate All-American and the third-best professional prospect in the Northwoods League by Perfect Game USA … also chosen as the 80th best college prospect available for the 2012 MLB Draft by Baseball America … earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2010
Named to the OVC All-Freshman Team ... as a rookie, led the pitching staff with a 5-3 record, 5.47 ERA, 77.1 innings pitched and a .282 opponent batting average … second on the team with 41 strikeouts … finished seventh in the OVC with just 9.78 hits allowed per game … named the OVC Pitcher of the Week after hurling the Colonels’ first complete game of the season against a tough Jacksonville State lineup (May 15) … he worked all nine innings in that game, allowing one earned run, scattering seven hits and struck out six batters as the Colonels won, 4-2 … after the Colonels allowed an unearned run in the top of the third, he did not allow a JSU base runner to reach second base the rest of the game … he continued his dominant second half of the season by pitching eight innings and striking out 10 batters to earn the Colonels’ first postseason win since 2007 over Murray State in the OVC Tournament (May 26) … his 10 strikeouts in that game was one shy of the neutral site OVC Tournament record … picked up his first career win against Presbyterian on March 7, going seven strong innings and allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out five … earned his first career save against UT Martin on as he pitched three strong innings and allowed zero earned runs on one hit while striking out one (April 25) … earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL
As a senior, pitched a one-hitter against Jones County in the state quarterfinals ... got the win in game one of the state semi-finals and hit the go-ahead home run ... picked up the save in game two of the state semi-finals ... As a junior, compiled a record of 9-2 to go along with a 0.92 ERA ... as a sophomore, went 8-2 with a 1.71 ERA ... pitched in the state playoffs all three years of high school ... his performance on the mound helped lead Heritage High to a state runner-up finish in 2007 and three consecutive AAAA region titles.
