2010 (Redshirt): Did not play.
2009 (Junior): Picked up the win in the Colonels’ upset of No. 25 Louisville, going five innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out eight batters (March 3) … struck out six of the first seven Cardinals he faced in that game … also picked up wins against conference opponents Austin Peay (March 21) and UT Martin (April 4) … in the UT Martin game, he pitched seven innings and allowed just one run on six hits … was plagued by injuries most of the season.
2008 (Sophomore): Worked as a closer for EKU for much of the season…Led the Colonels with 22 appearances … recorded 22 strikeouts in 23 innings of work … struck out the side in the sixth inning of a win over Bradley (March 2) … struck out all three batters he faced in the eighth inning of an 8-1 win over IPFW (March 9) … three days later, he turned in a dominating performance against Illinois State, pitching the seventh inning and allowing no runs on one hit and two strikeouts … pitched out of a jam against UMBC, giving up two hits in the eighth but escaping the inning without allowing a run (March 15) … pitched two scoreless innings in relief of All-American Christian Friedrich against Austin Peay to help preserve a 2-1 win (March 21) … closed things down against Austin Peay in a 7-3 win the very next day by pitching a scoreless ninth … shut things down in the ninth against Western Kentucky, retiring the side in order and giving the Colonels a 9-5 win in baseball’s version of the Battle of the Bluegrass (April 10).
2007 (Freshman): Finished the season with a 3-3 record … second on the team in appearances with 21 … posted a 7.35 ERA … opponent batting average was .321… Pitched 2.1 clutch, no-run innings in a 5-4 win over Bucknell (March 12) … also pitched three innings of shutout baseball against in-state rival Louisville … in his first appearance as a Colonel, he pitched two innings, gave up one hit and no runs against Long Island (Feb. 23).
High School Accomplishments: Clancy is a two sport star from Lemont High School ... as a senior, he pitched 63 innings with a 1.77 ERA, striking out 92 ... named all-area and all-conference ... also selected as one of the top 30 players in Illinois by Prep Baseball Report ... in 2005, Clancy had a 5-3 record and a 3.10 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 49.2 innings ... his performance earned him several honors, including honorable mention by the Chicago Herald News for 2005 and rated as one of the top 100 players in the state of Illinois by The Truth Prep Report ... he was also selected to participate in the Illinois Summer High School All-Star Team, the Suburban High School Conference Tournament, the Midwest High School Showcase and the Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago Showcase.
