Biography

2011 (Junior): Returned from a redshirt season to lead the EKU pitching staff with 62 strikeouts … appeared in 18 games and made eight starts … finished with an 0-5 record but a very respectable 4.70 ERA in 67.0 innings of work …also recorded two saves on the season …moved from starting to back-end relief later in the season and had success … combined with Greg Terry to shut down conference foe Murray State on May 8, coming out of the bullpen to throw 3.1 innings of scoreless, one-hit baseball while striking out five to pick up his first save of the season … earned his second save a week later at OVC opponent Jacksonville State when he tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless, one-hit baseball while fanning four batters … saved his best performance of the season for the OVC Tournament when he came out of the bullpen early in the Colonel’s opening game against Tennessee Tech and threw 5.2 innings, stifling the Golden Eagles to two runs on two hits while striking out eight.

2010 (Redshirt): Did not play.

2009 (Sophomore): Led the team with 53 strikeouts and was second on the team in wins (four), games started (11) and innings pitched (60.2) … picked up his first win of the season against conference opponent Morehead State, working 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out six batters (March 28) … delivered another big conference win against UT Martin, working four innings while allowing just one run and three hits and striking out six batters (April 4) … also picked up his first career save at Austin Peay, pitching the final two innings of a game and allowing no runs and no hits while striking out two batters (March 21).

2008 (Freshman): Pitched a perfect eighth inning against Bradley in his first outing as a Colonel (March 1) … finished the season with a perfect 2-0 record … made his first career starts against Thomas More College (April 16) and Kentucky State (April 23), earning wins in both contests … against Thomas More, he pitched four innings and allowed only two runs on four hits … a week later, he held Kentucky State to one run and two hits in three innings of work … his best outing of the season came against the Louisville Cardinals when he pitched 2.1 innings of no run, no hit baseball against the Big East squad, recording a strikeout in the process.

High School Accomplishments: A standout pitcher at Johnson Central High School in Paintsville … went 6-4 his senior year with a 1.09 ERA and 129 strikeouts in only 70 innings of work … also tallied two saves that year … tied a state record his senior year when he struck out 20 batters in a seven-inning game … was named 15th Region MVP and 15th Region Player of the Year … was also given second team all-state honors and placed on the Junior Kentucky All-Star team … was named to the East vs. West All Star team both his junior and senior years … coached by Shawn Hall.

Personal: Born Sept. 14, 1988 …Son of Ronnie and Becky Fyffe … majoring in criminal justice.
