AS A JUNIOR IN 2012
Started 25 games and played in 44 … made 20 starts at designated hitter and five at first base … hit .270 with four home runs, 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored … had a .440 slugging percentage … went 1-for-3 with a solo home run against Bowling Green (March 17) … was 3-for-4 with two RBIs against Marshall (March 27) … finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run against SIU Edwardsville (March 31) … had three hits in three at bats, three runs scored and a RBI at Tennessee-Martin (May 5) … played for the Licking County Settlers of the Great Lakes League during the summer of 2012 … 2011-12 Colonel Scholar.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2011
Started 17 games, mostly at designated hitter … started five straight games at first base in late March … provided consistent power in a limited role as he finished the season with a .414 slugging percentage … hit .243 on the year with three home runs, three doubles, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored … had his best series against UNC Asheville as he hit .364 (4-for-11) with a home run, double, six RBIs and three runs scored in the sweep of the Bulldogs … his tape-measure home run in the top of the 10th inning made the difference in EKU’s extra-innings win at OVC foe Eastern Illinois on March 26 … proved clutch at the plate as he hit .625 (5-for-8) with four RBI as a pinch-hitter on the season … hit safely in seven of his last nine games of the season, including a pinch-hit single against UT Martin in the OVC Tournament on May 26 … earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2010

Lettered in both baseball and basketball at Pickerington Central High ... earned all-conference and all-district honors in baseball ... played three years for American Legion Post 11 and led the team in batting average, home runs and RBI ... played for the Chillicothe Capitals wood bat team.

Son of Bill and Cheryl Hughes ... father Bill played quarterback for EKU from 1976-79 and was a member of the 1979 national championship team ... majoring in marketing.
