Biography

2011 (Junior): Appeared in just two games before April 2, but experienced a resurgence when he was inserted as the Colonels’ starting first baseman (a woeful position for EKU until that point) during a series with OVC foe Southeast Missouri … batted .472 (17-for-36) with nine RBI and eight runs scored during his first nine games in the starting lineup … finished the season with a .313 batting average, two home runs, four doubles, 19 RBI and 19 runs scored … committed only two errors at first base, despite being a converted catcher … recorded his first career four-hit game when he went 4-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored in a win over Ohio on April 13 … also had a big game against conference rival Murray State on May 7 when he batted 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base … provided the first home run of the OVC Tournament when he went yard in the second inning of EKU’s opening game against Tennessee Tech on May 25 to give the Colonels’ an early 2-0 lead.

2010 (Sophomore): Dealt with an ankle injury for most of the season … started only seven games behind the plate after starting 17 as a freshman … played the role of hobbled hero, though, in EKU’s 4-3 win over Murray State in the OVC Tournament as he came off the bench cold and provided a pinch-hit RBI double in the top of the ninth that tied the game … his pinch runner scored the eventual game-winning run … also hit his only home run of the season as a pinch hitter against Presbyterian (March 7).

2009 (Freshman): Split time with Joey Stevens behind the plate in his first season at EKU … started 17 games at catcher and five at designated hitter his freshman season … Batted .333 with three home runs, 20 runs scored and 17 RBI … batted 3-for-6 with five RBI and three runs scored against Berea College (March 18) … recorded his best game of the season against OVC foe Morehead State when he went 3-for-6 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored to lead the Colonels to a 25-6 win … crossed the plate five times in a win over Kentucky State (April 1) … compiled three hits in a conference game against UT Martin (April 5).

High School Accomplishments: Carried a school-record .596 batting average with 35 hits, five home runs, 22 RBI and nine steals in just 17 games his senior year ... named the Washington County and All-Area Hitter of the Year ... named all-county, all-conference and all-area ... played in the 2008 Brooks Robinson High School All-Star game at Camden Yards ... As a junior, he batted .541 with five home runs, 14 RBI, 23 runs scored and nine steals in 18 games ... named the Washington County Co-Player of the Year...Also lettered in basketball at Williamsport High ... played for the Frederick Hustlers in the Baltimore Metro League in the summers of 2006 and 2007 ... the team recorded 80 wins and only 19 losses during those two summers ... he was chosen to the all-tournament team at the AAU Division II Nationals in 2006 and 2007 ... recieved the AAU Most Outstanding Athlete award in 2006.
