At EKU –
2009: Handled all of the punting and kicking duties … made a season-best 41-yard field goal in the third quarter against UT Martin on Oct. 17 … connected on both field goal attempts in the season opener at Indiana (23, 31 yards) and season finale at Jacksonville State (18, 40 yards) … finished second on the team with 46 points … recorded three touchbacks on kick-offs in the final four games … the average start for the opposition on kick-offs was the 28-yard line … punted at least four times in every game … averaged a season-best 45.6 yards per punt at Murray State on Sept. 26 … booted four punts inside the 20-yard line against UTM including a season-high 57-yard punt late in the fourth quarter.
2008: Served as the team’s punter and kicker on kick-offs … booted two punts of at least 50 yards in the season opener at Cincinnati on Aug. 28 … recorded his longest punt of the year (67 yards) in the first quarter against Austin Peay on Sept. 27 … tallied a 56-yard punt and three punts inside the 20-yard line at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 4 … finished with three touchbacks on 59 kick-offs … the average start for the opposition on kick-offs was the 32-yard line.
2007: Played in all 12 games … split field goal and kick-off duties with Taylor Long … converted three field goals longer than 40 yards as a freshman … hit a career-best 48-yard field goal in the third quarter at Murray State (Oct. 27) … registered three touchbacks on kick-offs at Jacksonville State on Sept. 22.
High School – First team all-state pick … runner-up in Tennessee as Mr. Football (specialist) … Region 3-4A Special Teams Player of the Year … nailed a school-record 56-yard field goal … kicked a 45-yard field goal in the Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star game … ranked No. 7 nationally by Prokicker.com … finished with 168 total points, third most in school history … averaged 39.6 yards per punt … a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal – Son of Bob and Renee O’Connor … born on March 12, 1989 … his brother, Ian, served as the placekicker/punter for Marshall from 2003-06 … inducted into EKU’s Chi Alpha Sigma National Athletic Honor Society this past spring.
