AS A REDSHIRT SENIOR IN 2017
Third team All-Ohio Valley Conference by Phil Steele … started all 11 games … chosen as a preseason All-American by TyrantScouting.com … was a semifinalist for the 2017 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation … one only 49 players from across the nation chosen to the 20th annual FCS Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team ... chosen to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® First Team … finished fourth in the OVC with 8.1 tackles per game … finished the season with a team-best 89 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass break-up and four quarterback hurries … earned OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors and honorable mention recognition for National Defensive Player of the Week by STATS after recording 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks in a near upset of Kentucky (Sept. 9) … also had 10 tackles against Austin Peay (Nov. 11) and 15 against Saint Francis (No. 18) … his 1.5 sacks at Kentucky were the most by an OVC player against a power-5 conference opponent during the 2017 season … his 15 tackles against Saint Francis were the second-most by an OVC player in a game this season.

AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR IN 2016
Started all 11 games at linebacker … 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Football Team … led the team, second in the Ohio Valley Conference and seventh in the nation with 123 tackles (11.2 tackles per game) … registered 5.0 tackles for a loss of 14 yards … had 1.5 sacks … had two pass break-ups … had 10 or more tackles in a game seven times … posted a season-best 17 tackles at Tennessee Tech (Oct. 1) and against Murray State (Nov. 5) … that total tied for the 18th most in a single game in FCS football in 2016 … had 15 tackles in the season-finale against Eastern Illinois (Nov. 19) … had a sack at Tennessee State (Oct. 15) ... earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE IN 2015
Played in all 11 games and started once … saw regular action at linebacker and extensive action on special teams … ninth on the team with 37 tackles … recorded 1.5 tackles for a loss for six yards … registered two pass break-ups, three quarterback hurries and one forced fumble … had five tackles in the season-opening win over Valparaiso (Sept. 3) … also had five tackles in an overtime loss to Southeastern Conference opponent Kentucky (Oct. 3) … posted a season-high six tackles in a victory over Tennessee Tech (Oct. 8) … made his first collegiate start at Southeast Missouri (Oct. 17), finishing with five tackles, one pass break-up and one quarterback hurry … forced a fumble at No. 1 Jacksonville State (Oct. 31). 
 
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 2014
Appeared in all 13 games … finished with 32 tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss … collected 2.5 sacks including a 10 yard sack and a pass break-up against Austin Peay on Oct. 4 … recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter against Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 6 ... earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll … 2014-15 Colonel Scholar.

Son of Jeff Canady and Melissa Alderton … two of his uncles – Brent and Mark Canady – played football for the Colonels in the late 1980s and early 1990s ... received an undergraduate degree in environmental health science … pursuing a master’s degree in safety, security and emergency management with a concentration in occupational therapy.
