Biography

AS A SENIOR IN 2019-20
Saw action in six of the team’s seven events … played a total of 18 rounds … fourth on the team with a 77.94 stroke average, the 29th lowest single season average in program history … shot par or below twice … finished second in a field of 96 golfers at the Redbird Invitational (Sept. 8-9) with a season-best 54-hole total of 216 (E), tied for the sixth lowest score in program history … shot a career-best round of 70 in the final round of the Redbird Invitational … finished her career with a 78.70 stroke average, the eighth lowest in program history at the time.

AS A JUNIOR IN 2018-19
Appeared in three events for a total of nine rounds … had an 81.22 stroke average.
 
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2017-18
Played in eight of the team’s 11 events … posted an 81.20 stroke average … tied for seventh at the Losantiville Challenge (Sept. 5) with a 36-hole total of 158 … shot a season-best round of 73 at the UNF Collegiate (March 5-6).

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2016-17
Earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer team … picked up OVC All-Tournament recognition after finishing fifth in her first OVC Championship (April 17) … opened the OVC Championship with a 2-under round of 70, a season-low and tied for the fourth-lowest single round score in program history … finished with a season-low 54-hole total of 218 at the OVC Championship, tied for the sixth lowest score ever recorded in EKU history … played in 10 of the team’s 11 events and a total of 29 rounds … posted a 76.66 stroke average, third on the team and 11th in the conference … had two top-10 performances … shot two rounds below par … tied for eighth at the Rocket Classic (Oct. 10) in a field of 77 … opened the Rocket Classic with 1-under round of 71.
 
HIGH SCHOOL
Was the fourth ranked golfer in the state of Arizona and had a scoring average of 76.1 … helped Thunderbird High School win three straight state championships … finished second in a Junior Golf Association of Arizona event after shooting rounds of 73 and 71 for a 36-hole total of 144 … placed 14th out of 64 in the Trusted Choice Big I National Championship, one of the oldest and most respected national junior tournaments … had several top-10 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) finishes and won the Phoenix Junior Championship in July 2015 … qualified for the IMG Junior World Championship, which was played in San Diego in July 2015 … finished 41st out of 89 golfers at the Joanne Winter Silver Belle Championships held in December 2015 in Phoenix … carded rounds of 76, 71 and 80 for a total of 227 in a field that consisted of many of the top ranked Division I players.

Full name is Samantha Marie Sandland ... daughter of Greg and Jennifer Sandland … has one brother – Cameron ... majoring in public relations.
