AS A JUNIOR IN 2017-18
Voted first team All-OVC for the third consecutive season … the first Colonel ever to receive first team All-OVC honors three times … ranked third in the conference in scoring at 18.0 points-per-game … was also among the OVC's leaders in rebounding (11th / 6.7 rebounds-per-game), field goal percentage (ninth / 52.8%), free throw percentage (sixth / 83.9%), three-point field goal percentage (44.6%) and blocks (1.5 blocks-per-game) … the only player to rank in the top-10 in the OVC in all three shooting percentage categories … opened 2017-18 with 25 points and 12 rebounds in a road win at Rice, and never looked back … posted another double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) at Ole Miss three days later … notched his third double-double of the season in an overtime win against Jacksonville on December 2, scoring 22 points to go along with 12 rebounds, six blocks and three assists … closed the season on a rampage … averaged 23.3 points-per-game over EKU's final nine games of the year, including a career-best 36-point performance against UT Martin on February 1 … knocked down a career-high seven three-pointers in that game … averaged 18.7 points-per-game during conference play and was voted OVC Player of the Week twice during the season … reached several career milestones during the 2017-18 campaign … climbed to No. 8 on EKU's all-time scoring list (1,582 points) and he will enter his senior season on pace to become the school's all-time leading scorer … is one of only six Colonels ever to record 1,500 points and 500 rebounds in a career … broke EKU's career blocks record the 2017-18 season (122).
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2016-17
Voted first team All-OVC for the second straight year after finishing the regular season ranked among the OVC's leaders in scoring (fifth / 18.5 points-per-game), rebounding (12th / 6.5 rebounds-per-game), assists (15th / 2.8 assists-per-game), blocks (third / 1.4 blocks-per-game), field goal percentage (12th / 50.4%), three-point field goal percentage (12th / 39.0%) and free throw percentage (14th / 77.4%) … was one of only three OVC players ranked in the top-15 in the conference in all three shooting percentage categories … was the only underclassman named to the ten-person first team All-OVC … scored in double figures in every game on the season, pushing his streak of double-figure scoring games to 34 … scored 20-plus points in six of EKU's first nine games, including a 30-point, 10-rebound, four-assist performance in the Colonels' 89-80 win over C-USA power Marshall on December 3 … earned OVC Player of the Week honors for that showing … during conference play, Mayo upped his averages to 19.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks-per-game … notably scored 17 points and dished out a career-high seven assists versus OVC regular season champion Belmont on January 14, and he went for 19 points, eight rebounds and a career-best seven blocks at Jacksonville State on January 28 … his seven blocks in that game were the most by a Colonel in almost four years … saved his best for last, averaging 25.5 points and 8.3 rebounds-per-game over EKU's final four games of the regular season … capped his sophomore campaign by scoring a career-high 31 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a win over Tennessee Tech on February 25 … in that game, he became the 35th Colonel to join the 1,000-point club … he is the first EKU player ever to reach that plateau as a sophomore … EKU's first two-time first team All-OVC selection since Mike Rose in 2007-08 and 2008-09 … named to the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) All-District 19 Second Team following the season.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2015-16
Voted the OVC Freshman of the Year and first team All-OVC following a spectacular season that saw him average 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks-per-game while hitting 60.7 percent from the field, 55.6 percent from three-point range and 80.2 percent from the free throw line… his field goal percentage ranked him fourth in the OVC and 18th nationally … he ranked second in field goal percentage and 18th in total points (450) among all freshmen in the country … was the only Colonel to start all 31 games on the year … scored 20-plus points on eight occasions, including a season-best 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting at SIUE on Jan. 16 … added three double-doubles, including 19 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks against Morehead State on Jan. 30 … had 11 games where he shot 70 percent or better from the field with a minimum of five shot attempts … in OVC-only games, he upped his scoring average to 16.6 points-per-game, which ranked ninth in the league … in those 16 contests he also ranked fourth in field goal percentage (61.7) and fifth in blocks (1.4/game) … named OVC Freshman of the Week nine times during the year, the second-most single-season awards in the history of the award … he is the fourth different Colonel player to be named OVC Freshman of the Year and first since Adam Leonard shared the award in 2006-07 … he is one of only two freshmen in the last five years to be named first team All-OVC, joining former Murray State guard and NBA first round draft pick Cameron Payne (2013-14).
HIGH SCHOOL
Gatorade Maine Boys Basketball Player of the Year … finalist for the Mr. Maine Basketball award … averaged 24.4 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.0 blocks per game as a senior … shot 50.2 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range and 81.1 percent at the free throw line … Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A Player of the Year in 2015 … Morning Sentinel Boys Basketball Player of the Year … played for Peter McLaughlin at Messalonskee High School … helped the Eagles to a 14-6 record and a spot in the Eastern Maine Class A semifinals as a senior … averaged 15.1 points and 13.6 rebounds per game his junior season, while helping lead Messalonskee to the Class A quarterfinals … also led the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference in blocks at 2.5 per game … during the summer of 2014, Mayo competed in the AAU Division I 11th-Grade National Championships in Louisville where he was noticed by the EKU coaching staff … made his official visit to campus the weekend of Sept. 13, 2014 and watched the 2013-14 Colonels get their OVC Championship rings at halftime of the football game … played AAU for the Maine Athletic Club.
