AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE IN 2022
Played in all 12 games ... made 10 starts ... totaled 57 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble ... career-high eight tackles and one tackle for loss against Gardner-Webb in FCS Playoffs (Nov. 26) ... seven tackles and forced a fumble against Eastern Michigan (Sept. 2) ... tallied six tackles and a tackle for loss against Southeast Missouri State (Oct. 29). 

IN 2021
Played in 10 games and made one start ... totaled 15 tackles.

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 2020
Played in all nine games … started three times … totaled 23 tackles, including three tackles for a loss and one sack … had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery … had a season best seven tackles and forced a fumble in a near upset of Troy (Oct. 17) … registered a sack against Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 7).

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2019
Redshirt season … played in four games.

HIGH SCHOOL
Earned all-state honorable mention recognition as a senior in 2018 at Eastern Guilford High School … also chosen all-conference and academic all-conference while helping the Wildcats to a 10-3 record as a senior … selected first team all-state as a junior in 2017 … had 12 interceptions his final two seasons of high school football … had 1,676 yards receiving and 22 career touchdowns … received offers from Tennessee State … also recruited by North Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Full name is Nicholas Lynn Cheeley … son of Darryl and Tathia Cheeley … has two sisters – Taylen and Darrien … his father Darryl played collegiate basketball at North Carolina A&T and Wake Forest ... majoring in exercise and sport science.
