AS A SENIOR IN 2022
Played in six games ... totaled 24 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and one interception ... eight tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss, both season highs, against Southern Utah (Oct. 1) ... logged seven tackles with 0.5 tackles for loss against Bowling Green (Sept. 10) ... 40-yard interception return for a touchdown against Austin Peay (Sept. 24). 

IN 2021
Phil Steele Second-Team All-ASUN ... started all 11 games ... totaled 42 tackles, including one tackle for loss ... tied for team lead with three interceptions ... broke up six passes, forced one fumble, and blocked one kick ... registered four tackles and an interception against Abilene Christian (Oct. 9) ... three tackles and an interception against Indiana State (Sept. 18) ... picked off a pass and made two tackles against Tarleton (Oct. 2) ... blocked the potential game-tying field goal against Central Arkansas (Oct. 16) ... tallied six tackles and a pass breakup against Austin Peay (Sept. 25) ... six tackles against Lamar (Oct. 30).

AS A JUNIOR IN 2020
Played in all nine games … started six times at safety … totaled 35 tackles, including one tackle for a loss … had one interception and a total of six pass deflections … had nine tackles at Troy (Oct. 17) … finished with three tackles and an interception in a win over No. 11 Central Arkansas (Oct. 24).

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2019
Started nine times at safety … played in all 12 games … concluded the season with 41 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for a loss … had two interceptions, three pass break-ups and one forced fumble … had five tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, at Indiana State (Sept. 14) … intercepted two passes at Presbyterian (Sept. 21) … totaled a season-high six tackles against Tennessee-Martin (Oct. 5) … forced a fumble at Eastern Illinois (Oct. 26).

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2018
Played in eight games … finished the season with six tackles and one quarterback hurry … had two tackles at Marshall (Sept. 8) and two against Robert Morris (Nov. 10).

HIGH SCHOOL
Team captain at Chattahoochee High School … had 50-plus tackles, two blocked punts and two interceptions as a senior in 2017 … registered 40-plus tackles, five sacks and returned a fumble for a touchdown as a junior in 2016.

Full name is Joseph Matthew Sayles ... son of Clasious and Keithress Sayles … has two sisters – Genesis and Gabriella, and three brothers – Anthony, Marcus and Isaiah … his brother Marcus was a member of the Los Angeles Rams during the 2017 season … plans to study business.
