• Lights were installed at Hood Field in the spring of 2014.

• In 2017, the facility underwent a complete renovation.  The transforming renovations include new team dugouts and a climate controlled press box, which accommodates enhanced radio and video broadcasts.  The new Gertrude Hood Field features improved field drainage at the dugouts and enhanced outfield decks ideal for informal gatherings. The newly renovated grandstand features a brick facade and accommodates more than 400 spectators.

• A new team locker room, player development facility and coaches offices, along with banners celebrating the accomplishment of former and current Colonel student-athletes, were also added.  The player development facility provides the team with an area to practice during any weather conditions.

• Hood Field is named in the honor of Gertrude Hood, a pioneer in the physical education area for women at Eastern Kentucky University. She served EKU for 45 years (1928-72) and was instrumental in the development of women's athletics at both the intramural and intercollegiate levels.
