Alonzo Wright joined the EKU baseball program as the volunteer assistant coach in the spring of 2020.
Wright spent the past three seasons as the recruiting coordinator/assistant coach at Florida State College at Jacksonville. In his time at FSCJ he compiled three consecutive top-50 recruiting classes (according to Perfect Game), resulting in over 30 student-athletes moving onto NCAA Division I/Division II programs. Prior to his time at FSCJ, Wright was deep-rooted in success in several programs serving as a head coach and assistant coach at various programs within the Greater Jacksonville Area.
As an assistant coach at Trinity Christian Academy he helped develop multiple draft picks and Division I signees, including Todd Lott (University Louisiana Lafayette, Cardinals draft pick), JC Flowers (Florida State, Pirates draft pick), Austin Martin (Vanderbilt University, 2020 draft eligible), AJ Labas (LSU, 2020 draft eligible) and Dylan Simmons (Florida State, 2022 draft eligible).
Wright earned a bachelor’s of science in psychology from the University of West Florida in 2005, and a bachelor’s of social work from West Florida in 2006. He completed a master’s of social work from the University of Central Florida in 2007.
