AS A REDSHIRT SENIOR IN 2019 AT EKU
Started all 12 games at cornerback … totaled 25 tackles, including 2.0 for a loss … had one interception and five pass break-ups … registered a season-high five tackles at Indiana State (Sept. 14) and at Murray State (Oct. 19) … chosen as Ohio Valley Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week after making the game saving play in a win at Murray State, with EKU up seven and the Racers at the three yard line with seven seconds left Sumpter picked off a pass in the end zone to preserve the road win.

AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR IN 2018 AT EKU
Appeared in 10 games … totaled eight tackles … had two tackles each against Southeast Missouri (Sept. 22) and No. 8 Jacksonville State (Oct. 6).

AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE IN 2017 AT UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
Saw action in seven games … had one tackle … played primarily on special teams … Academic All-Big Ten.
 
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN IN 2016 AT UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
Played in nine games and started twice at defensive back … played primarily on special teams … finished the season with 10 tackles, including six solo stops … made his first collegiate start against Minnesota … had a season-best six tackles against Michigan State … missed the last three games of the season with an injury … Academic All-Big Ten.
