Grant Stepp, who has worked in the athletics department since 2015 moved to the new role of assistant athletics director for development in August of 2019. In the summer of 2020, Stepp was promoted to associate athletics director for development.
Stepp had served as the assistant athletics director for external operations, after previously serving as athletics ticket manager.
In this new role, Stepp is responsible for securing private support to help all of the athletics programs reach new heights of excellence. He works closely with leadership and coaches to have a lasting impact through major gifts. In addition, Stepp will oversee the Colonel Club and premium seating.
“I’m excited to embark on this new experience,” Stepp said. “In my previous roles I have had the pleasure of building amazing relationships with supporters of EKUSports. I look forward to this new opportunity to grow those relationships and build many new ones.”
Stepp came to EKU from Western Kentucky University, where he had served as the ticket operations manager from 2011 to 2015. At WKU, he was in charge of the day-to-day financial accounting, annual budget and internal audits of the Hilltopper ticketing operation. While managing and supervising the ticket office staff, he devised creative and cost-effective incentives and morale-boosting programs that increased customer satisfaction and participation.
Prior to becoming the ticket operations manager at WKU, Stepp served as the coordinator of event/game day operations for the Hilltopper athletics program from 2009-11.

The native of Versailles, Kentucky graduated from WKU with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2006. He earned his master’s degree in sports administration from EKU in 2010.
Stepp’s father, Edward, was an assistant women’s basketball coach at EKU from 1993-95.
