2014 Scouting Report – A versatile player in the backfield … true team player … will be a key player in the running game this year.
At EKU –
2013: Played in 11 games with three starts in the backfield … split time between running back and fullback … had a career game against Austin Peay on Oct. 5 with 67 rushing yards and 26 yards receiving … scored once in the second quarter and again in the third versus the Govs … scampered 34 yards on a crucial fourth down at Morehead State on Sept. 21 to set up an EKU touchdown … found the end zone right before halftime in the opener to give Eastern a 28-6 lead over Robert Morris.
2012: Saw action in eight games with a start on Nov. 3 at Southeast Missouri as a fullback … also utilized on special teams … recorded a rushing attempt in four contests … converted two carries for first downs in the win over Austin Peay on Oct. 13 … tallied three rushes for 10 yards at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 20 … hauled in his only reception, a one-yard catch, versus Morehead State on Sept. 8.
2011: Logged playing time in 10 games, mainly on special teams … changed positions from running back to linebacker to help add depth at that position … tallied one tackle in the win over Southeast Missouri on Oct. 15.
2010: Took a redshirt season.
High School – Three-time all-district, all-area and All-SEKC honoree … Louisville Courier-Journal second team all-state pick as a senior … totaled 1,900 yards rushing and 37 total touchdowns in 2009 … notched 110 tackles and four interceptions as a senior linebacker … two-time Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic MVP … also lettered three years in both basketball and baseball … a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal – Son of Ronnie and Jennie Watkins … born on June 21, 1991 … his father graduated from EKU in 1982.
