    Fourth Season

Erik Losey was chosen as EKU’s offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator in December 2019.  He had served as the offensive line coach at Southern Mississippi, East Tennessee and Alcorn State.

In his third season at EKU, the offensive line helped the Colonels rank third nationally in passing offense per game (329.7), fifth in third-down conversion percentage (.519), 10th in total offense per game (451.3), 11th in scoring offense (36.2), and 18th in red zone offense (.879). Losey's group also paved the way for EKU to tally its highest point total in program history.

Left tackle Payton Collins was named a Fourth-Team Phil Steele/DraftScout All-American, as well as Phil Steele's ASUN Offensive Lineman of the Year. EKU's offensive line protected quarterback Parker McKinney as he set every single-season and career passing record in school history during the 2022 season.

EKU ranked 13th nationally in sacks allowed and 19th in sacks allowed per game in 2021, surrendering just 14 on the season. The Colonels also boasted the fourth-best red-zone offense in the country, scoring on 31 of its 33 trips (93.9 percent) inside in the red zone.

Collins was honored as a Freshman All-American and an ASUN All-Conference selection. EKU's offensive line helped McKinney set a single-season school record with 229 completions.

In his first season, Losey helped the offense conclude the fall third in the nation in passing offense (247.4 yards per game) and fourth in the country in total offense (376.4 yards per game).  The Colonels ran up a season-high 590 yards of offense against Western Carolina in the 2020 Opportunity Bowl.  The unit totaled 400 yards or more of offense in six of the final seven games of the season.

Three offensive players – quarterback Parker McKinney, wide receiver Keyion Dixon and running back Alonzo Booth – were each chosen as the national player of the week during the 2020 season.  Booth led the nation in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns during the fall.  McKinney was among the nation’s passing leaders for much of the season before missing the final three and a half games due to an injury.  He still ranked fourth in passing touchdowns.

“Erik guides offensive line and recruiting efforts,” head coach Walt Wells said.  “I had the opportunity to recruit Erik out of high school and coach him at WKU.  He’s done a great job of coaching and recruiting at his stops.  He developed very good offensive lines at ETSU and Alcorn State, and recruited and coached a freshman All-American at Southern Miss.  He is doing a great job leading our guys.”

Losey spent the 2019 season as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of South Carolina.  He worked specifically with the Gamecock offensive line, a unit that helped USC rank sixth in the Southeastern Conference in passing yards per game.

During the 2017 and 2018 seasons Losey was the offensive line coach at Southern Miss.  He helped the Golden Eagles to an 8-5 record and a trip to the Independence Bowl in 2017.  That season, USM led Conference USA and was 11th in the country in fewest sacks allowed.  In addition, the Golden Eagles ranked third in the conference in total offense, and fourth in passing, rushing and scoring.

Under Losey’s tutelage, Trace Clopton earned All-America honors and a spot on the all-conference freshman team in 2018.  Devin Farrior earned second team all-conference honors in 2017.  Drake Dorbeck received honorable mention for the all-conference team in 2017.  Arvin Fletcher picked up honorable mention all-conference recognition in 2017 and 2018, and was also chosen to the all-conference freshman team (2017).

Losey was the offensive line coach at East Tennessee from 2014 to 2016 and at Alcorn State during the 2013 season.  He coached Ben Blackmon to a spot on the 2016 all-conference freshman team in 2016 at ETSU.  Isaac Sampson was a first team All-American and all-conference pick in 2013 at Alcorn State.  Jon Scott and Detonio Dade were second team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference picks.  Losey helped ASU rank first in the conference in sacks allowed and second in scoring.

During the spring of 2012, Losey coached tight ends at Campbell University.  He moved over to coach the running backs during the 2012 season at Campbell.  In 2011, he coached the offensive line at Webber International.

After starting his coaching career at Western Kentucky in a graduate assistant role in 2007 and 2008, Losey was an offensive quality control assistant at Florida State during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Losey earned a bachelor’s degree in history and social studies at Western Kentucky in December 2006.  He and his wife Kaitlyn reside in Richmond.
