Will Matzke

Will Matzke joined the EKU football staff in October of 2016 as the equipment coordinator.  He is responsible for managing all football equipment, fitting athletes for apparel, and assisting in ordering of new gear.  He interacts with all players daily making sure all of their equipment needs are met.  He is one of the youngest head equipment managers in the nation.
 
Prior to arriving at Eastern Kentucky, Matzke spent eight months as the assistant equipment manager at Furman University working under head equipment manager Daniel Assey.  At Furman, Matzke oversaw all daily football equipment operations and also managed seven student managers.  In his time there he became AEMA Equipment Certified in July of 2016 and also attended CoachComm College.
 
Matzke was an equipment intern at the University of Michigan in 2015 working under head coach Jim Harbaugh and head equipment manager Brad Berlin, now the head equipment manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  In his time at Michigan, Matzke helped with all player equipment needs, incoming inventory of new apparel, and day-to-day equipment maintenance.
 
Matzke attended Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina from 2011-2014.  His freshman year he worked as a part of the equipment staff.  He then became an offensive student coach for the remainder of his time there.  Matzke was a part of three Big South Championship teams under head coach Joe Moglia.  He received a bachelor’s of science degree in recreation and sport management.
