The 2014-15 season will be Nick Bowman’s first as Eastern Kentucky’s Director of Operations, but he’s no stranger to EKU basketball.
Bowman spent three seasons (2008-11) as a student manager for the Colonels and served as a graduate student coach during the 2012-13 season.
The South Webster, Ohio native served as an assistant coach at the University of Pikeville during the 2010-11 season and was a men’s basketball operations intern at the University of Tennessee during the 2013-14 season.
With Bowman on the staff in 2012-13, Eastern Kentucky won a school record 25 games, including the program’s first victory in a national postseason tournament game in 68 years. Last season at Tennessee, Bowman helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. The Vols finished with a 24-13 record and were one of only five teams in the country to rank in the top-20 in both offensive and defensive efficiency.
“Nick had a great impact on our program at Tennessee,” former UT Head Coach Cuonzo Martin said. “He was creative and worked hard every day to put our program in a position to be successful. Nick is going to be a fantastic coach in the future.”
