Terrence Commodore in his second season as an assistant coach for the Eastern Kentucky men's basketball program.
In his first season on staff, Commodore helped develop some of the top talent in the OVC. Sophomore Nick Mayo was voted first team All-OVC for the second straight year in 2016-17 after finishing the regular season ranked among the OVC's leaders in scoring (fifth / 18.5 points-per-game), rebounding (12th / 6.5 rebounds-per-game), assists (15th / 2.8 assists-per-game), blocks (third / 1.4 blocks-per-game), field goal percentage (12th / 50.4%), three-point field goal percentage (12th / 39.0%) and free throw percentage (14th / 77.4%). Freshman Asante Gist, meanwhile, was voted to the five-man OVC All-Newcomer Team in 2016-17 after ranking 10th in the OVC in scoring (15.9 points-per-game) and ninth in assists (3.8 assists-per-game). He led all freshmen in the league in both categories, and he broke EKU's freshman scoring record with 494 points.
Commodore served as the Colonels' Video Coordinator/Director of Player Personnel during the 2015-16 season.
In that role, the EKU graduate and native Kentuckian planned recruiting schedules for staff, assisted in on-campus official visits by recruits, and served as a liaison between players and the coaching staff.
"Terrence is a tireless worker who has the natural ability to relate to all types of players," head coach Dan McHale said. "He has a very sharp basketball mind and is one of the best young recruiters in the country."
Commodore worked as a graduate assistant/program assistant at

the University of Kentucky from 2007-11. While at UK, the Wildcats made an Elite 8 (2010) and a Final Four appearance (2011). His responsibilities included on-campus recruiting, film breakdown after games, player development on and off the court, and assisting with scouting reports. He assisted in the recruiting process of former Wildcats John Wall, Eric Bledsoe, DeMarcus Cousins, Brandon Knight and Darius Miller.
"I want to thank Coach McHale, Director of Athletics
Stephen Lochmueller and President Michael Benson for this opportunity," Commodore said of his hire. "It's always been a goal of mine to be a Division I basketball coach, and to get my first job at my alma mater is a great honor. I look forward to helping Coach McHale as he continues to take this program to another level."
Commodore earned a bachelor's degree in physical education with an emphasis in sports administration from EKU in 2007, and a master's degree in sports leadership from Kentucky in 2011.
