Andy Fryman joined the Track and Field coaching staff as the Assistant Coach-Throws in September 2024. Prior to EKU, he was the Assistant Track and Field Coach at Marshall University, Gardner-Webb University, and a Graduate Assistant Coach for Track and Field at Sam Houston State. Some of his coaching highlights include 11 Conference Champions, 2 NCAA Region Champions, 4 NCAA Championship Qualifiers, 2 All-Americans and 1 Olympian.
Since joining the Colonels in 2024, EKU throwers have broken records in the men's and women's weight throws and hammer throws.
2025 saw EKU claim three medals at the ASUN Indoor Championships in Lariah Woodn in the women's shot put (14.94m), Senda Garma with a bronze in the women's weight throw (16.84m), and Matthew See with a silver in the men's shot put (16.24m).
At the outdoor championships, Garma claimed silver in the women's hammer throw (52.76m) with Wooden taking silver in the women's shot put (13.74m)
Some athletic highlights for Fryman include 2x US Olympic Team Trials Finalist (Hammer Throw), 7x US National Championship Finalist (Hammer Throw and Weight Throw), 2015 US National Championship Bronze Medalist (Weight Throw), 2x NCAA All-American (Hammer Throw and Discus) and 2006 SEC Champion (Shot Put).
Fryman and his wife, Melody, have 4 kids , Caleb, Lukas, Natalya, and Nathaniel.
