Alex Pryor is in his fifth year at Eastern Kentucky University and his first as Director of Athletics Communications following his promotion in August 2026.
In his role, Pryor oversees EKU’s athletics communications operation, including the department’s media relations, public relations, social media, and digital strategy. He also coordinates interview requests for coaches, student-athletes, and senior athletics administrators, assists with the department’s crisis communications efforts, and works closely with local, regional, and national media outlets.
Pryor also serves as the primary communications contact for EKU’s football, women’s basketball, and tennis programs.
Prior to EKU, Pryor spent the 2021-22 season at Middle Tennessee State University, working with the men’s basketball and tennis programs. He directed digital and social media efforts for men’s basketball, generating more than 3.2 million impressions across the program’s online platforms. Pryor also led communications efforts for men’s tennis during its NCAA Tournament run and Middle Tennessee’s hosting of the Conference USA Championship.
Pryor began his career at the University of Kentucky, where he spent three years working closely with one of the nation’s premier men’s basketball programs. From 2018-21, he contributed to the program’s communications, media relations, and social media efforts while also working with Kentucky’s soccer and tennis programs.
Throughout his career, Pryor has worked on some of college athletics’ biggest stages, including the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and NCAA Tennis Championships, along with championship events conducted by the SEC, Conference USA and KHSAA.
Pryor earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Kentucky in 2021. He currently resides in Richmond.
