Talisha Davis, a junior on the Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team, was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 11.
Davis was also the unanimous choice as the OVC Newcomer of the Week. She led the Lady Colonels to a pair of victories in three games last week.
In those three games, Davis averaged 21.3 points and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range.
Davis led EKU to an overtime victory against Austin Peay on Monday, finishing with 21 points and six assists. She then posted a career-best 29 points while grabbing three rebounds and dishing out four assists in a road victory at Jacksonville State. Davis recorded her 1,000th collegiate point on a lay-up in the first half against the Gamecocks.
She capped the week with 14 points and three boards against Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
The Player of the Week award is the first for Davis, the Newcomer of the Week award is the fourth for the junior this season.
Before joining the Eastern Kentucky program this season, Davis scored 859 points in two seasons at Lincoln Trail College.
