Colonels Aiming for Fifth Straight Win Saturday at SEMO

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team heads into Saturday’s game at Southeast Missouri riding an OVC best four-game winning streak. Game time at Houck Stadium is set for 2 p.m. ET.

Eastern Kentucky (5-3, 4-1 OVC) has never lost at Southeast Missouri, winning all eight games including a 27-21 decision in 2006. In that last meeting at SEMO, quarterback Allan Holland saw his first significant action as a Colonel. He came on in the second half and finished 16-of-22 through the air for 197 yards and two scores in EKU’s comeback victory.

Southeast Missouri (3-5, 1-3) did the rest of the conference a huge favor last week by knocking off OVC leader Tennessee State in overtime, 27-20. The Redhawks trailed at the half, 17-3, before rallying to force extra time thanks to Doug Spada’s 37-yard field goal at the end of regulation. Southeast tallied a touchdown on its first possession of overtime and then held Tennessee State on four plays to cap the win.

A win over the Redhawks would keep the Colonels in the hunt for the OVC title. UT Martin (5-1) and Tennessee State (3-1) are the other two conference teams with just one league loss. Even though Southeast Missouri has three OVC losses, two of the defeats have been by three points or less.
