RICHMOND, Ky. – This Saturday, the Eastern Kentucky University football team hopes to rejoin the elite in the Ohio Valley Conference with a win over visiting Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks are one of two OVC teams still undefeated in league action. Game time in Roy Kidd Stadium is set for 6 p.m. ET.
Eastern Kentucky (3-3, 2-1 OVC) is coming off its best all-around performance of the year, a dominating 33-12 victory at Tennessee Tech. The Colonels exploded for season highs in points (33), first downs (21), rushing yardage (214) and total offensive yardage (340) in the win. On defense, EKU forced three turnovers which led to 17 points. The defense allowed a season-low 56 rushing yards to TTU as well.
Jacksonville State (4-1, 2-0) enters the game as the hottest team in the OVC. Since losing its season opener at Georgia Tech, the Gamecocks have won their last four games by an average score of 34-12. Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, a transfer from LSU, completed 16-of-22 passes for 239 yards and a pair of scores in a 38-17 win over Southeast Missouri last weekend. JSU leads the conference in rushing (212.8 rypg), total offense (427.4 ypg), total defense (318 ypg) and scoring defense (17.8 ppg).
The Colonels are 0-2 against Jacksonville State at home including a 28-0 loss to the Gamecocks in 2006.

Storylines
--Senior
Taylor Long has made 13 consecutive field goals after missing his first attempt at Cincinnati on Aug. 28. Long is closing in on several EKU career records. With his fourth field goal made last week at TTU, he surpassed Dale Dawson (1983-86) for the program’s all-time leader in kicking points (245). Long needs seven more field goals to tie Dawson’s record for field goals made (49) and seven more PATs to tie David Flores’ (1977-80) record of 126 PATs.
--Eastern was 1-of-14 (7.1 percent) on third down conversions at TTU. EKU’s best single-game third-down performance this year was 40 percent (6-of-15) against Morehead State.
--The Colonel defense has forced three turnovers in three of the last four games.
