EKU seniors Katie Rolf, <>
RICHMOND, Ky. – On senior day, Eastern Kentucky’s three seniors powered the team to a 13-0 win in five innings over Austin Peay Sunday at Gertrude Hood Field. The Colonels (25-15, 14-7 OVC) completed the series sweep thanks to seniors Adriel Foxley, Chanze Patterson and Katie Rolf. The three combined to go 5-for-8 with three home runs, four runs scored and nine RBIs against the Lady Govs (9-29, 3-16 OVC).

Rolf finished 3-for-3 with two home runs, two runs scored and seven RBIs. Patterson went 2-for-3 with a home run, scored a run and drove in two. Foxley scored once.

Patterson led off the bottom of the first with a single up the middle. She scored later in the inning when APSU committed an error on an attempted double play throw.

Eastern added to the lead in the fourth when Shyenne Hussey came home after another Lady Gov throwing miscue. Rolf followed with her own senior day celebration, a three-run shot over the left-center field fence. Three batters later, not to be out done, Patterson went deep over the right field fence with a runner on.

After two hit batters, Hussey and Jena Handley came up with back-to-back RBI singles to extend the lead to 9-0. The next batter singled to load the bases and Rolf came to bat for the second time in the inning. She drove a 2-2 pitch over the left-center field fence for her second homer of the inning and her fourth of the season.

The grand slam was the sixth this year for the Colonels. EKU platted 12 runs in the fourth inning.

In a fitting ending to the game, all three seniors were involved in the final three Austin Peay outs. Patterson fielded a pair of ground balls and threw out runners to Foxley at first base. Rolf hauled in a fly ball to right field to conclude the game.

Amber Lenz and Hussey also had two hits each.

Kalyn Fox (7-3) pitched five innings of shutout ball to record her seventh win of the season. She allowed one hit, struck out one batter and did not walk anyone.

Austin Peay starter Ashley Elrod (7-12) allowed 10 runs, eight of which were earned, on nine hits in three and one third innings.

The Colonels will step out of conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Lexington to face the University of Kentucky. The single game will begin at 5 p.m.
