CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will attempt to end its two-game road trip with a win against Austin Peay on Monday in Clarksville. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. ET. The Lady Colonels (4-7, 1-2 OVC) began the road trip with a loss at Tennessee State on Saturday.
Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series against the Lady Govs 42-24. EKU has won four straight and seven of the last eight in the series. The Lady Colonels are 17-13 in games played in Clarksville.
Against Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky committed 33 turnovers and lost 61-52. The Lady Colonels overcame an eight point deficit to tie the score at 52-52 with four minutes left in the game, but did not score again. Junior
Colette Cole recorded a double-double for EKU, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Kayla Drake finished with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Cherie White added nine points and 10 rebounds.
White’s 10 rebounds were a career-high. Over her last three games, White is averaging 8.6 boards per game.
Eastern’s 33 turnovers on Saturday was a season-high. The Lady Colonels have committed 27 or more turnovers five times this season. They’ve turned it over 30-plus times twice in the last three games.
Austin Peay (6-8, 2-1 OVC) is coming off a 21-point win over Morehead State, a team that had been undefeated in OVC play. The Lady Govs also have a conference victory over Southeast Missouri (61-50). Their only league loss was at Eastern Illinois (81-70).
The APSU front court of Nicole Jamen, April Thomas and Whitney Hanley combined for 48 points and 26 rebounds against Morehead State. Jamen recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Jamen leads the team with an average of 11.7 points per game. She is the team’s second leading rebounder at 7.1 per game. Ashley Herring averages 10.3 points and six boards per game. Thomas leads the squad with an average of 7.6 rebounds and is third in scoring at 10.1 per game.
