Game Notes
RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky will begin a three-game home stand on Thursday when Southeast Missouri State visits McBrayer Arena. The game, sponsored by Coca-Cola, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Colonels (6-16, 3-10) will try to snap an eight game losing skid. The Redhawks (12-11, 7-5 OVC) are coming off a loss at Eastern Illinois.

In its last game, Eastern lost on the road to Jacksonville State, 73-55. The Lady Colonels were led by
Kayla Drake and
Ilona Muszak with 12 points each. Sophomore
Nadia Mossong contributed a career-best 12 rebounds and eight points.
Cherie White also finished with a career-high 11 rebounds.
On Monday, Drake was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the second straight week, and the fifth time this season. In two games last week, the Kokomo, Ind., native averaged 17.5 points, four assists and one steal.
Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series with Southeast Missouri, 25-11. The last meeting between the two came on Jan. 17, with SEMO winning 71-54 in Cape Girardeau. Southeast has won seven straight in the series. EKU is 15-3 in games played in Richmond, but has lost three straight.
In the first meeting of the season, Eastern cut an eight-point deficit to a single point three and a half minutes into the second half, but Southeast Missouri responded with an 8-0 run and defeated the Lady Colonels 71-54.
Mossong led EKU with 14 points. Muszak scored 12 points on four three-pointers. Four players reached double figures for SEMO led by Tarina Nixon’s game-high 17 points. Lauren Sharpe finished with 16 points. Crysta Glenn grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.
Southeast Missouri State has won three of its last four and eight of its past 11 games.
On Saturday, the Redhawks had a three-game winning streak snapped in a rematch with Eastern Illinois. EIU beat SEMO 73-53. Southeast is one of only two teams in the OVC to beat Eastern Illinois this season, handing the Panthers a 58-51 loss on Jan. 10.
Senior guard Tarina Nixon leads the team with an average of 12.9 points per game. Fellow senior guard Sonya Daugherty is the team’s second leading scorer at 11.8 points per game. Senior forward Crysta Glenn leads the squad with an average of 8.1 rebounds per game and contributes 10.2 points per contest.
As a team, the Redhawks only average 59.2 points per game, but they are holding their opponents to an average of 58.1 points.
