No. 18 Louisville Beats EKU Softball Team

Sophomore Ashley Dollins had two hits against No. 18 Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky lost 7-0 to 18th ranked University of Louisville on Wednesday. The Colonels (16-25) trailed by just two after three innings, but the Cardinals (45-7) scored five runs over the next two innings.

An RBI single by Colby Wherry and a sacrifice fly by Kassie Stanfill in the bottom of the third got U of L on the board. The Cards doubled their lead in the fourth with an RBI single by Melissa Roth and a run scoring double by Chelsea Bemis. Louisville added three more in the fifth.

Kristin Austin went 3-for-3 with a run scored for Louisville. Bemis finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Tori Collins went 2-for-2 at the plate and pitched a complete game shutout from the circle. She allowed four hits while walking one and striking out two.

Ashley Dollins finished 2-for-3 for Eastern Kentucky.

The Colonels will close out the regular season at home this weekend. EKU will host Tennessee-Martin for a three game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
