LEXINGTON, Ky.
– Former Eastern Kentucky University offensive lineman John Jackson was inducted into the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame on Friday in a ceremony at the Lexington Opera House. Jackson became a member of the EKU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.

Jackson was a three-year starter and a two-time All-OVC selection at EKU under legendary head coach Roy Kidd. While he was at EKU, the Colonels won three OVC titles and he blocked for two of the top five career rushers in EKU history, Elroy Harris and James Crawford.

Jackson played for three teams during his successful stint in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers (1988-1997), the San Diego Chargers (1998-1999) and the Cincinnati Bengals (2000-2001). An NFL All-Pro, Jackson became only the 171st player in NFL history to play in over 200 games; a feat accomplished by less than one percent of all players who play in the league. In 1996, he started in Super Bowl XXX for the Steelers.

Jackson will be joined in this year’s induction class by former Boone County High School running back Shaun Alexander (Seattle Seahawks), former DeSalles High School and University of Kentucky star Joe Federspiel (New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Colts), former University of Louisville standout Sam Madison (Miami Dolphins, New York Giants) and former Danville High School star Jim Marshall (Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings).

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy will be given the Blanton Collier Award for integrity on and off the field at the ceremony.
