This is the third meeting between the two teams. EKU leads the all-time series 2-0. The last time the two teams played, Nov. 16, 2008, Eastern Kentucky won by a score of 71-61 in Chicago.

EKU returns four starters from last season’s team, including 6-foot-1 forward Alex Jones. Jones was selected to the Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference team. She was the only player in the conference last season to rank among the top-10 in scoring (10th), rebounding (2nd), field goal percentage (3rd), steals (6th) and blocks (3rd). The other returning starters include Shakeyia Colyer, Brittany Coles and Cherie White.

White led the Lady Colonels to a 77-66 exhibition game victory over Pikeville College on Sunday. The senior scored 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. She also had six rebounds and three steals. New EKU point guard Reese Bass made her debut in the exhibition game, finishing with 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Chicago State returns three starters from last season’s team that finished 12-19 overall. The Cougars went 7-5 in the Great West Conference and finished third. CSU’s top returning player is senior forward Courtney Waldon. She led the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg) last season. Earlier this month Waldon was selected as the Great West Preseason Player of the Year.

Other returning starters include Natalie Marlowe (5.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and Janay Dockery (5.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg). Chicago State has five returning players that stand 6-foot-1 or taller. Senior center Caila Desroches is 6-foot-4. She averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds last season. Center Elana Wroten is also 6-foot-4, Waldon is 6-foot-2, Tressa Beckel and Nicole Clark are each 6-foot-1.

Last year the Cougars ranked fourth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (38.6). Waldon averaged 2.7 three-pointers per game which ranked as the 22nd most in the nation. She made 44 percent of her three-point attempts, which was 11th best in the country.
