The Lights Will Be On at Roy Kidd Stadium Saturday Night

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team finally opens its home schedule Saturday night when the Colonels welcome Kentucky State to Roy Kidd Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.

This is the latest Eastern Kentucky (0-3) has played its home opener since 1964. EKU is 7-3 in home openers since 2000. This is the 42nd consecutive year the Colonels have played their home games at Roy Kidd Stadium. EKU is 191-42-1 all-time at the facility, which opened in 1969.

Kentucky State is 2-3 overall following a 13-12 loss at Miles College last Saturday. Running back Shannon Frieson, brother of EKU’s Bruce Frieson, rattled off a 69-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. However, Miles rallied to score the game-winning touchdown with 4:48 left in the contest.

This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2000. EKU has won all four meetings against Kentucky State. Defensive line coach Jake Johnson was the starting center for Eastern the last time these teams played.
