OFFICIAL RESULTS
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team traveled east this past weekend to participate in the 2011 UVa Classic in Charlottesville, Va. The tournament featured some highly competitive teams from the east coast including host Virginia, VCU, Maryland, William & Mary, Radford and Old Dominion.
Senior
Hugo Klientovsky was the player of the weekend for the Colonels as he advanced to the semifinals of the Orange bracket. Klientovsky dropped just one game in his opening match against Jovan Milic of James Madison, 6-0, 6-1. He then picked up a tough 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 triumph over VCU’s Jaime Vazquez. Klientovsky’s run came to an end when he fell to ETSU’s Juan Ramirez, 6-4, 6-3.
Fellow senior
Philip Janz tallied a three-set win in his opening singles match in the Red bracket, but then fell to eventual champ Jesse Kiuru of Maryland in straight sets.
All three doubles teams advanced to the second round while Klientovsky and senior
Niklas Schroeder finished third in the Gold bracket.
Eastern Kentucky concludes its fall schedule this weekend at the ITA Region 8 championships in Knoxville, Tenn.
