RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky fell behind 2-0 before winning three straight sets to pull out a 3-2 victory over Murray State at McBrayer Arena on Friday night.
The Colonels won by scores of 19-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 15-13.
After losing the first two sets by six and seven point margins, EKU (14-14, 9-8 OVC) scored the final two points in the third set to stay alive.  With the score tied 23-23, freshman 
Alexis Plagens recorded a kill.  Moments later 
Ashley Edmond’s kill gave the set to Eastern, 25-23.
A 5-1 run, fueled by four Murray State errors, allowed Eastern to build a 14-9 lead in the fourth set.  The Racers never got closer than two the rest of the way.  A kill by 
Kelsey Kuehner ended the set and tied the match.
EKU jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fifth set and led 8-3 after a kill by 
Marissa Tashenberg and a Racer error.  Murray State battled back to tie the set 10-10 and force a Colonel time out.  Out of the time out, MSU served an error and Eastern led the rest of the match.  A Murray State attack error gave EKU match-point.  Moments later another error by the visitors allowed Eastern to complete its comeback.
Edmond led the Colonels with 14 kills.  Kuehner and 
Hannah Burkle added 11 kills each.  Burkle also contributed 10 blocks.  
Dena Ott totaled 26 digs.
Teresa Krog led Murray State (8-20, 8-9 OVC) with 15 kills.  Kayleah Sauer posted a match-best 33 digs.
MSU had 10 more kills, 58-48, but committed five more errors than Eastern.  EKU out-blocked the Racers 14-11.
The Colonels will conclude the home portion of their 2011 schedule on Saturday when Southeast Missouri visits McBrayer Arena.  Senior Day activities will be held before the match, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
