Gameday: Eastern Looks to Earn Third Straight Home Win Saturday Night

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team concludes its three-game home stand Saturday evening against Georgia Southern. All fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy to the Colonel Holiday Toy Drive will receive a FREE ticket. Tip time is set for 7 p.m.

The Colonels (5-5) will be looking to move to 3-0 in home games for the third time in seven years under head coach Jeff Neubauer. EKU opened the 2009-10 season with 11 straight wins at home. The Colonels have posted 10 consecutive winning records in McBrayer Arena dating back to 2001-02.

Georgia Southern (3-4) is coming off back-to-back Southern Conference wins over Chattanooga and Appalachian State. Over the last two games, the Eagles are shooting 48.7 percent (19-of-39) from three-point range. Senior Ben Drayton III leads all active SoCon players with 1,226 points and tallied a team-high 18 points against EKU last year.

The all-time series is tied at 2-2 thanks to Eastern’s 79-73 win at Georgia Southern last year. Sophomore Jabs Newby piled up a team season-high 10 assists in the victory. Eastern Kentucky is 1-3 against SoCon teams under head coach Jeff Neubauer.
