EKU Faces Road Test Saturday at Western Carolina

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team steps out of conference action Saturday to travel to Western Carolina. Tip time is set for 2 p.m.

The Colonels (15-12) have not faced Western Carolina (14-13) since 1970. The Catamounts, out of the Southern Conference, are undefeated at home this year (9-0) and have won 11 straight games in the Ramsey Center dating back to last season. EKU, on the other hand, has won six of its last seven road games including a 79-73 decision at SoCon foe Georgia Southern on Jan. 2.

Eastern Kentucky and Western Carolina are meeting as part of the ESPN Sears BracketBusters series. This is the sixth straight year EKU has participated in the event. Eastern is 3-2 all-time in the BracketBusters including a 77-57 win over Winthrop last winter. As part of the agreement, WCU will play a return game at Eastern in November or December 2012.
