BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky beat Alabama State, 5-3, on the final day of the Magic City Classic hosted by Alabama-Birmingham and Samford. Junior 
Larkyn Wood hit two home runs and drove in three.
Wood’s first homer was a solo shot to lead off the third inning and staked the Colonels (7-4) to an early 1-0 lead. After Alabama State went on top 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Wood blasted a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning to give EKU the lead for good. 
Shyenne Hussey’s RBI single and 
Raquel Howes’ RBI double in the fifth extended the Eastern lead to 5-2. ASU added a two-out run in the top of the sixth, but never got any closer.
Freshman 
Hannah Driver came on in relief in the fourth inning. She allowed one run on two hits in three and two-thirds innings to improve to 3-0 this season. Wood finished 2-for-2 and Hussey went 2-for-3.
The Colonels will make a Spring Break trip to Kissimmee, Fla., for eight games in five days at the Rebel Games event. EKU will play two games against South Dakota beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
