RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky softball team will conclude its 2011 home schedule this weekend, and honor the contributions of five seniors. The Colonels are scheduled to play a doubleheader against Southern Illinois Edwardsville beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday and a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
If the weather is nice, Senior Day ceremonies will be held on Saturday before the start of the first game, if not they will be held on Sunday. EKU will honor the contributions of outfielder

Noelani Esperas and
Stacye Toups, catcher
Ashley Dollins and infielder
Shyenne Hussey.
EKU stands 21-18 overall and 8-12 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Colonels have lost five straight. SIU Edwardsville is making its OVC debut this season in softball. The Cougars are 19-21 overall and 11-7 in league games. SIUE has won four straight.
Eastern Kentucky is third in the OVC with a team batting average of .300 while SIU Edwardsville is ninth with a .239 average. The Cougars’ team ERA of 3.44 is fifth best in the conference. The Colonels’ ERA of 4.74 ranks seventh.
Eastern’s
Diane Gallagher (5th, .393), Hussey (8th, .374) and Gibson (13th, .350) are among the OVC leaders in batting average. SIU Edwardsville is led by Taylor Tooley (12th, .351).
SIUE’s Erika Taylor has the fourth best ERA in the OVC at 2.69. She has an overall record of 13-11.
