DAYTON, Ohio –
Eastern Kentucky lost both games of a doubleheader at Dayton on Sunday. The Flyers won game one 8-7 before taking the second with a last-inning rally by a score of 5-3.

In the first game, Eastern Kentucky (22-26) fell behind 8-2 before attempting to rally in the final inning. With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the seventh, Cassi Gibson doubled to right-center to drive in all three runners and cut the deficit to three. Raquel Howes followed with her 12th home run of the season, a two-run shot over the left-center field fence, to bring the Colonels within a run. The next two batters reached base, putting the go-ahead run on first, but the following two batters were retired to end the rally attempt.

Gibson finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Howes went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

The Colonels jumped out in front 3-0 in game two before Dayton scored five times in the final two innings. A double by Howes and a single by Shyenne Hussey each platted a run in the first. Another RBI single by Hussey in the third made it 3-0 in favor of Eastern.

The Flyers (21-24) platted two in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to one. With a pair of runners on and one out in the seventh, Lauren Nacke hit a three-run walk-off home run down the left field line.

Hussey finished 3-for-3 with two runs driven in.

The Colonels will conclude their regular season schedule next weekend at Southeast Missouri State. The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET and a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
