BOX SCORE
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Freshman
Devon Saini scored her first collegiate goal in the 28th minute on Friday night as the Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team tied host IPFW, 1-1, in the Colonels’ lone exhibition game of the preseason.
With 17 minutes remaining in the first half, Saini gave EKU the lead when she fired a shot from 20 yards out that got past IPFW goalkeeper Kristen McFadden. The Colonels held that lead until the 65th minute when Lisa Underwood received a corner kick from Tylar Allison and headed the ball past EKU sophomore goalkeeper
Lyndsay Vance to even the score.
EKU and IPFW played to a 1-1 tie in an exhibition game last year.
Vance and freshman Annie Wickett, preparing to replace four-year starter Stephanie Lynch, shared time in the net for the Colonels, with Vance playing about two-thirds of the game before giving way to Wickett.
Sophomore
Sarah LeBrun led EKU with three shots in the game, one of which was on goal.
Friday’s game was the Colonels’ only tune-up before next Friday’s season opening matchup with Louisville at EKU Soccer Field at 5:00 p.m.
