RICHMOND, Ky. – A three-game home stand will come to an end for the Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team on Saturday when Southeast Missouri State visits McBrayer Arena.

In its last game, EKU (6-7, 2-1 OVC) turned the ball over nine times in the first six and a half minutes, trailed by 13 late in the first half, staged a second half comeback to take a seven-point lead, but couldn’t hold off Austin Peay in a 66-63 loss on Monday.
Marie Carpenter led Eastern with 19 points.
Junior
Alex Jones enters Saturday’s game needing four more rebounds to reach Eastern Kentucky’s top-10 in that category. Jones has 590 career boards.
In their last five games the Lady Colonels have limited their opponents to 18.6 percent (16-for-86) three-point shooting percentage. EKU has made 41 percent (31-for-75) from deep during that same time. Eastern Kentucky leads the OVC, and ranks 26th in the nation, in defensive three-point field goal percentage (24.5 percent).
EKU and Southeast Missouri will be meeting for the 42nd time. Eastern holds a 26-15 advantage in the series. The Lady Colonels won 15 of the first 16 meetings between the two teams. However, SEMO has won 11 of the last 12 meetings. Eastern is 15-6 against the Redhawks in Richmond. Five current Lady Colonels have played against Southeast Missouri. In two games against Southeast, Carpenter is averaging 20 points and six rebounds per game.

Mariah Lawrence will see a familiar face on the Southeast Missouri team. SEMO’s leading scorer Bailie Roberts and Lawrence where high school teammates at Maryville High in Tennessee.
Southeast Missouri (4-12, 1-2 OVC) comes into Saturday’s game after having picked up its first OVC win of the season, a 66-48 victory at home against Jacksonville State. Four players scored in double figures against the Gamecocks. Bianca Beck finished with 13 points while Brittany Harriel and Courtney Shiffer each added 12 points. Harriel posted a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.
SEMO shot 44 percent from the field despite making just 1-of-9 from behind the arc. JSU shot 30 percent from the field and went 1-for-17 from deep. The Redhawks were out-rebounded by 13, but took advantage of 25 Jacksonville State turnovers, out-scoring JSU 25-6 off turnovers.
Roberts, a 5-foot-10 junior forward, leads the team in scoring at 10 points per game. Harriel, a 6-foot-1 junior forward, is second with 9.1 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game. SEMO averages just 52.1 points per game and has been held under 50 points six times this season. They have also held their opponents under 60 points five times.
EKU and Southeast are ranked third and fourth respectively in the OVC in scoring defense, but the Lady Colonels are fifth in scoring offense compared to 11th for the Redhawks.
