SAN JUAN, P.R. –
Turnovers doomed the Eastern Kentucky women’s basketball team in a 68-64 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday, the final day of the 2012 San Juan Shootout.  The Panthers turned 22 EKU turnovers into 19 points.

Jade Barber and Jalisa Bryant led Eastern (3-2) with 15 points each.  Brittany Coles added 12 points and a game-best nine rebounds.

Angela Rodriguez finished with 19 points for the Panthers (3-2).

Back-to-back baskets by Raechele Gray put the Lady Colonels on top 62-60 with 1:15 left in the game.  Kimee Chandler answered on the other end to tie the score for the 11th and final time.  After Gray missed a shot, Ashley Green went to the free throw line and made both to give UWM the lead for good.  A lay-up by Coles with nine seconds remaining made it a two-point game and kept Eastern alive.  However, Rodriguez made both free throws at the other end to seal the game.

After starting the game 5-for-14 from the free throw line, the Panthers finished 9-for-10 at the stripe including all six in the final minute.

Milwaukee made 7-of-13 three-point attempts in the first half, but went just 1-for-10 from deep while shooting 29 percent from the field in the second half.  Eastern Kentucky shot 52 percent in the second half but made just 35 percent of its second half shots.

The Lady Colonels will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to face No. 6 Louisville.  Tip-off against the Cardinals is scheduled for 7 p.m.
