LONG BEACH, Calif. –
Eastern Kentucky was edged by Pittsburgh, 3-1, on the final day of the Long Beach State Invitational.

Pittsburgh (10-5) took a 2-0 lead into the final two innings.  The Colonels (6-10) cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth when Diane Gallagher scored on a throwing error.  However, the Panthers added a run in the top of the seventh to squeeze out the win.

Freshman shortstop Lauren Mitchell recorded two of Eastern’s four hits.  Holly Stevens went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Pittsburgh.

The Colonels will play their first home games of the season on Tuesday when Dayton visits Gertrude Hood Field for a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
