JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky’s softball team fell to Jacksonville State, 3-1, in the series finale on Sunday. The Gamecocks won two of the three games.
Jacksonville State (15-16, 9-2 OVC) got on the board first with an RBI double by Kristin Graham in the bottom of the first inning. A sacrifice fly by Eastern’s
Carissa Reisinger in the top of the third tied the game.
A pair of solo home runs in the fifth by the Gamecocks proved to be the difference. Hayden Crawford led off the inning with a shot over the left field fence. With two outs, Shelby Holley did the same.
Leanna Pittsenbarger (6-7) started for EKU (12-15, 5-3 OVC). She allowed two earned runs in four and a third innings while walking two and striking out three.
Shaylon Robb allowed one run on two hits in one and two-third innings of relief.
Diane Gallagher had two hits in three at bats for Eastern.
Graham went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Gamecocks. Tiffany Harbin (6-2) pitched a complete game five-hitter to earn the win. She allowed one run, walked one and struck out eight.
Eastern Kentucky will be back in action on Tuesday when they play a doubleheader at Ohio. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
