Box Score vs. No. 17 UCLA
LAKEWOOD, Calif. – Eastern Kentucky University’s softball team lost a pair of games on Friday at the Long Beach State Invitational. EKU fell 6-1 to UNLV and lost by a 9-1 score in six innings to No. 17 UCLA.
Against UNLV (10-11), the Colonels trailed by just one run until the bottom of the fourth when the Rebels scored four runs on three RBI singles and an RBI double. Eastern got on the board in the top of the fifth when
Melissa Costa scored on a dropped fly ball. UNLV added a run in the bottom of the fifth to set the final score.
Diane Gallagher went 2-for-4 for the Colonels.
Eastern scored first against nationally ranked UCLA.
Carissa Reisinger scored on a throwing error in the top of the first to stake EKU to an early lead. The Bruins tied the score in the bottom of the second and then took a 4-1 lead on a three-run home run by B.B. Bates in the third. With a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, UCLA added four more runs to end the game.
Four different Colonels finished with one hit each. Reisinger went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
The Colonels will conclude play at the Long Beach State Invitational on Saturday against Pittsburgh. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
